M2 Ms. Mashita's first overseas conference presentation with Prof. Okada!

M2 Ms. Mashita and Prof. Okada presented their research at the Seventh International Conference on Multifunctional, Hybrid and Nanomaterials held in Genova, Italy. Ms. Mashita gave a poster presentation titled "Orientation controlled Al-based metal-organic framework toward multi-responsive films with anisotropic deformation" and Associate Prof. Okada gave an oral presentation titled "Guest alignment in oriented MOF films on centimetre scale substrates".For the past two years, we have not been able to go on overseas business trips due to Corona, but finally one of our students was able to give a presentation at an overseas conference! Ms.Mashita was a bit nervous because it was her first time to go abroad, but she gave a good presentation and had a heated discussion with a professor from a foreign university (see photo below)! Associate Prof. Okada was excited to be able to interact with overseas researchers whom he had not met in a while.
Of course, at overseas conferences, we not only give presentations, but we also enjoy the atmosphere, food, and culture of the country or region! This time, since it was in Italy, every meal was pasta and pizza for about a week, but Associate Prof. Okada was not bored at all and enjoyed Italian food until the last day of the conference.
(The other Japanese in the photo is Dr. Tarutani of Hiroshima University. He and  Associate Prof.  Okada were classmates in the Takahashi Lab when they were students).
