Department of Public Management

After the foundation of Osaka City University in 1949, its Faculty of Business, the predecessor of our School of Business, produced many competent human resources who could demonstrate their talents in the business world and local communities while handing down the tradition of the Osaka Commercial Training Institute, which dates back to the Meiji era, and of Osaka University of Commerce. Throughout most of its history, the Faculty of Business had only one department: the Department of Business. However, recent drastic economic and social changes have required the development of competent human resources who can work in local communities or the public sector. To meet this social requirement, in April 2018, the Faculty of Business established the Department of Public Management, in addition to the existing Department of Business. This addition of the new department helped increase the opportunities for students to learn about nonprofit organizations, public organizations, local companies, corporate social responsibility (CSR), etc., intensively.
