Purpose ／ 目的

Laboratory for cultivation of young women’s STEAM (nicknamed “CYW STEAM”) engages in activities which aim to support female middle and high school students develop a passion for STEAM fields (STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics). By providing opportunities for female students to appreciate the depth and intellectual appeal of scientific fields and communicate with role models, we encourage them to study and choose their career paths. We also appeal to teachers and parents and will promote diversity. This laboratory were established by the president of OMU as one of the collaborative creation research center on  2022.

女子STEAM人材育成研究所 (CYW STEAM, Laboratory for cultivation of young women’s STEAM) は、進路選択を考える時期の女子中高生に対して、理系分野の幅広さ、奥深さ、楽しさを伝え、多様な進路選択を促す取り組みを行うこと、ひいてはSTEAM分野（STEAMは、Science,Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematicsを表す)の理系女性の育成とダイバーシティ推進を目的としています。女子中高生に実験・実習の楽しさを体感させたり、身近なロールモデルとの対話の機会を設ける他、身近な大人である保護者・中高教員の理解を促進する活動も行います。大阪公立大学協創研究センターの2号研究所（学長設置）の１つとして、2022年8月に設立されました。
