Joint Research Results by Prof. Yutaka Amao and Honda R&D Co., Ltd. Selected for Front Cover of New Journal of Chemistry
The paper titled "Electrocatalytic production of formaldehyde with formaldehyde dehydrogenase using a viologen redox mediator" by a research group including Yutaka Amao (Director and Professor, Research Center for Artificial Photosynthesis, Osaka Metropolitan University) and Honda R&D Co., Ltd. has been featured on the front cover of New Journal of Chemistry issued by the Royal Society of Chemistry.
E-fuels are carbon-neutral alternative fuels produced using renewable resources, and they can be stored as liquid or gaseous fuels. This research team aims to establish a method for the biocatalytic synthesis of methanol, a primary example of e-fuels, from carbon dioxide. In this study, they successfully developed an electrocatalytic production process to generate formaldehyde from formic acid. The design of the front cover images a station supplying e-fuels produced from carbon dioxide.
