Joint Research Results by Prof. Yutaka Amao and Honda R&D Co., Ltd. Selected for Back Cover of Energy Advances
The paper titled "Bioelectrocatalytic methanol production with alcohol dehydrogenase using methylviologen as an electron mediator" by a research group including Yutaka Amao (Director and Professor, Research Center for Artificial Photosynthesis, Osaka Metropolitan University) and Honda R&D Co., Ltd. has been featured on the back cover of Energy Advances issued by the Royal Society of Chemistry.
Methanol fuel is attracting attention as an alternative low-carbon fuel for internal combustion engines and other power sources. In this study, with the aim of establishing a method for synthesizing methanol from carbon dioxide, we successfully developed an electrocatalytic methanol production process from formaldehyde using an artificial electron mediator and the biocatalyst alcohol dehydrogenase. The design of the back cover images a car powered by methanol produced from carbon dioxide.
