Unveiling Ceremony for Expo Legacy Permanent Exhibition Utilizing Nishijin-ori from Exterior of "Iida Group x Osaka Metropolitan University Joint Pavilion" Held at OMU Morinomiya Campus
On Monday, May 25, 2026, an unveiling ceremony for the permanent exhibition inheriting the Expo legacy was held at the SMBC Sky Lounge on the 12th floor of the Morinomiya Campus.
The "Iida Group x Osaka Metropolitan University Joint Pavilion," which our university co-exhibited with the Iida Group at the Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan, featured a beautiful Nishijin-ori exterior that captivated visitors. This Nishijin-ori has now been relocated to the Morinomiya Campus. For the on-campus installation, it was processed into a folding screen style to further enhance the traditional beauty of Japan. Along with a replica of the pavilion, it will be permanently exhibited on the 12th floor of the campus as an "Expo Legacy" to pass on the excitement and memories of the Expo to the future.

The ceremony was attended by Shin-ichi Fukushima (Chairman of the Board of Trustees, University Public Corporation Osaka), Atsushi Hirokawa (Director of the Pavilion, Iida Group Holdings Co., Ltd.), Fuminori Tokunaga (Vice President for Research Strategy, Osaka Metropolitan University), and Yutaka Amao (Director of the Research Center for Artificial Photosynthesis, Osaka Metropolitan University). The attendees expressed their determination to return the knowledge and partnerships gained from the Expo to the fields of education and research rather than keeping them temporary, as well as their expectations for the exhibition to become a new symbol of the campus. The unveiling and commemorative photos were taken in a gorgeous atmosphere from start to finish.
This exhibition will serve as a symbolic display connecting the memories of the Expo, traditional Japanese beauty, and the university's research, education, and future vision. With this Expo legacy as food for thought, our university will strive for further leaps in education and research, as well as social contributions.
