33 Students from the SSH Research Club at Kumamoto Prefectural Amakusa High School Visited the Research Center for Artificial Photosynthesis as Part of Their SSH Kansai Training
On Thursday, August 17, 2023, 33 students from the SSH Research Club at Kumamoto Prefectural Amakusa High School visited the Research Center for Artificial Photosynthesis as part of their SSH Kansai Training.
First, Professor Yutaka Amao (Director of Research Center for Artificial Photosynthesis, Osaka Metropolitan University) gave a lecture on "The Potential of Artificial Photosynthesis Technology for Carbon Neutrality." Subsequently, the students divided into three groups to discuss carbon neutrality. Professor Amao then answered their questions, such as: "How can the earthquake resistance of underground storage methods that capture and bury CO2 be ensured?", "How can coal liquefaction technology be made more efficient?", and "What percentage of the total energy of sunlight can be used for power generation?"
Following the discussion, various experimental apparatuses were introduced in the laboratory of the Biocatalysis Research Division.
