Lecture Meeting of FY2024 Held by Research Center for Artificial Photosynthesis
From the background that led to the selection of this joint research project by the Joint Usage/Research Center for Catalysis (JURCC), the speaker gave an easy-to-understand talk on the transition of the molecular evolution of light-harvesting systems associated with the evolution from green algae to land plants, focusing on the role of chlorophyll b in photosynthesis. The talk covered a grand scale involving the global environment and photosynthetic organisms, such as how they survived the Snowball Earth event. Active discussions took place with approximately 25 participants even after the lecture.

On the occasion of the speaker's visit to our university for a joint research project under the Joint Usage/Research Center for Catalysis (JURCC), this lecture will present the latest findings on the diversity and evolution of photosystems in green algae, based on protein structures determined by cryo-electron microscopy and gene analysis. We look forward to your participation.
