We held the 2024 Research Center for Artificial Photosynthesis Activity Report Meeting.
On Monday, March 3, 2025, the FY2024 Activity Report Meeting of the Research Center for Artificial Photosynthesis was held on-site at the Cultural Exchange Room of the Academic Information Center on the Sugimoto Campus. The morning session included reports on research activities from each department, followed by a presentation by Specially Appointed Lecturer Yusuke Kita (Laboratory of Catalytic Organic Chemistry, Graduate School of Engineering).
The afternoon session featured an invited lecture by Associate Professor Tamao Ishida (Tokyo Metropolitan University), followed by presentations from seven students. Finally, a special lecture was delivered by Professor Tatsumi Ishihara (Faculty of Engineering / International Institute for Carbon-Neutral Energy Research (I2CNER), Kyushu University).
The event concluded with an award ceremony for the Student Activity Award and Student Presentation Award, followed by the closing remarks.

The 2024 Research Center for Artificial Photosynthesis Student Activity Award
Yusuke Seki (3rd-year Doctoral Student, Graduate School of Engineering)
I am deeply honored to receive the Student Activity Award. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to Professor Yamada, Dr. Nakazono, and Dr. Tabe for their continuous guidance and mentorship since my undergraduate years. As I transition into a career as a researcher and engineer in the corporate sector, I am committed to working even harder to contribute to society and the well-being of others.
Kazuma Suehiro (2nd-year Master’s Student, Graduate School of Science)
I am truly honored to receive this Student Activity Award. I believe this recognition was only made possible through the support of everyone I have worked with over the past three years, including my seniors, colleagues, and juniors in the laboratory. In particular, I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to my supervisor, Professor Yutaka Amao, for his dedicated guidance and for providing me with numerous opportunities to present at academic conferences. Engaging in discussions with researchers from Japan and abroad through these conferences has been an invaluable experience that helped me grow both as a researcher and as a professional. As I begin my new career this coming fiscal year, I will strive to apply the experiences gained from my research and work hard to become a leader in society as soon as possible. Thank you very much.

I am deeply honored to be selected for the Student Presentation Award. Thanks to the support of Associate Professor Tamura, Dr. Kita, the staff, my fellow students, and my family, I have had an incredibly meaningful year. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all of you once again. This award will serve as a great motivation for me to strive for further growth and research excellence as I move on to graduate school. Finally, I would like to extend my deepest thanks to everyone involved in organizing this activity report meeting.

Thank you very much for selecting me for the Student Presentation Award. This recognition was made possible by the support of Professor Amao, the faculty members of the center, and the students in my laboratory. I am truly grateful to all of you. In this study, I presented the results of a system that we advanced by integrating new enzymatic reactions into the system reported last year. Encouraged by this award, I will continue to pursue my research with even greater curiosity and strive to contribute to the further development of this system. Lastly, I would like to express my sincere appreciation to the organizers for providing this opportunity and to everyone who supports our daily activities. Thank you very much.
