Curriculum

Master's Program

Graduate students acquire the knowledge and analytical skills necessary for economics research by taking step-by-step and systematic lectures from "Basic subjects" to "Applied subjects."
"Basic subjects" familiarize students in a wide range of essential knowledge for research, and "Applied subjects" trains students in the latest economics research methods necessary for their field of research. Students should take these subjects in the first year so that they can concentrate on writing their thesis in the second year.

The thesis writing process differs for students enrolled in the two-year Master’s Program and students enrolled in the integrated Graduate Program. Students enrolled in the two-year Master's Program enroll in "Completion Thesis Guidance" in their second year. This course readies students for the job market and employment upon completion of the program. On the other hand, students enrolled in the integrated Graduate Program, enroll in "Master's Program Research Guidance 1, 2" for each of the first two years of the Master’s Program. In both courses, communication between the students and faculty members, a supervisor and two academic advisors (one advisors for the two-year Master's Program) is essential for thesis guidance.

Doctor's Program

We provide lectures and research guidance so that students can create high-quality doctoral dissertations. Lectures and exercises in "Field Subjects" ensure that students have the knowledge and skills required for research. In the lectures, students learn how to perform analysis by surveying previous literature on the target subject. In the exercises, students independently formulate and develop their own unique research topics based on their interests and specialties and for the purpose of writing their dissertation. Students take only one course from Field Subjects to ensure that they also have enough time for their research.
In " Doctor's Program Research Guidance 1, 2, 3", students prepare their doctoral dissertation over a three-year period and under the guidance of a supervisor and two academic advisors. Graduate students prepare multiple academic papers that comprise their doctoral dissertations, mainly while communicating closely with their supervisor and two academic advisors.
