Center for Research and Development in Higher Education

Overview of the Center

The Center for Research and Development in Higher Education has been established to engage in research and development of higher education, including faculty development (FD) and institutional research (IR) on education, and to systematically promote and support the improvement of our university education. We have been established as the successor to the Center for Research and Development of Higher Education of Osaka City University and the Higher Education Development Center of Osaka Prefecture University. We will carry out our own activities while continuing and developing the wide variety of surveys, research, and projects conducted by our forerunners.

We promote and support the university’s systematic FD efforts by, for example, making the university’s FD policy and implementing FD activities, and supporting FD held by each department.

Additionally, we carry out IR activities with a focus on education. In other words, we analyze the results of various surveys intended to identify students’ learning outcomes from their enrollment to graduation. We also perform self-study and evaluation using a wide variety of direct and indirect assessment indexes. Using their results, we facilitate educational improvements and FD, thereby supporting the establishment of the university’s internal quality assurance system centered on education.

Moreover, we support students’ learning and educational practices through the Teaching and Learning Center, established under the Education Promotion Headquarters.
