MEXT Joint Usage / Research Center on Mathematics and Theoretical Physics

Purpose and Overview

In April 2019, Osaka City University Advanced Mathematical Institute has been authorized as a MEXT Joint Usage/Research Center.

  Since the 21st Century COE Program, Osaka City University Advanced Mathematical Institute (OCAMI) has been keeping joint research and research exchange with domestic and foreign universities, and builds international/domestic networks. As a new stage, advancing the previous activity, OCAMI, as a center for joint usage/research, expands new international research/education by collaboration/co-creation of mathematics and theoretical physics. By circulating talented researchers by joint usage/research though domestic/international networks, in the area of mathematics and theoretical physics, OCAMI is aimed at further strengthening the foundation and development of academic research, creation of new research, and cultivation of young internationally-researchers, and establishes an internationally-leading research/education center.

OCAMI Joint Usage/Research projects

Since the fiscal year 2019, as a part of the Joint Usage/Research project, we have announced call for proposal of research projects for each fiscal year. The call for proposal consists of three types (1),(2) and (3) as follows, and is aimed at joint usage/research corresponding to the above research areas.

(1) Joint Usage/Research（general）

Joint Usage/Research（general）consists of three types (A), (B) and (C). Applicants can choose one of these three types depending on the scale of the research activities. In principle, joint usage/research should be conducted at Osaka City University (Sugimoto campus or Umeda Satellite campus). In the case of other domestic places, approval by center committee is required.

(2) International Joint Work "Mathematical Science of Symmetry, Topology and Moduli"

Joint research should be conducted at foreign universities and research institutes that have concluded a research cooperation agreement with OCAMI, oversea institute which cooperated to the Brain Circulation Program promoted by OCAMI, or OCAMI. Research results are expected though joint research, invitation of researchers at the above foreign university/institute, and mid-term to long-term dispatch of young researchers.

(3) Large Scale International Conference

It is desirable that project promotes collaboration/co-creation of mathematics and theoretical physics. In principal joint usage/research should be conducted at Osaka City University (Sugimoto campus or Umeda Satellite campus). In the case of other domestic places, approval by center committee is required.
