On Theoretical Astrophysics Group

Fig08

The research topic of our group is to deepen our understanding on the universe through gravity phenomena.  We are in a very interesting era where developments of observational and experimental techniques enable us to see the neighborhoods of black holes. Also, we have a possibility to discover new properties of gravity through tabletop experiments. In order to contribute to the progress of science from the theory side, we are carrying out researches to promote understanding on gravitational theories, to predict various astrophysical phenomena, and to possibly lead to discovery of new physics.

The Theoretical Astrophysics Group at OMU started in April 2022, when Osaka City University and Osaka Prefectural University were merged to form Osaka Metropolitan Universty (OMU). Our group is a continuation of the theoretical astrophysics group at Osaka City University. Before the merger of the two universities, Prof. Hideki Ishihara and Prof. Ken-ichi Nakao had been organizing this group in collaboration. Since Prof. Ishihara had retired just before the merger, our group has been led by Prof. Nakao and Dr. Hirotaka Yoshino from the fiscal year 2022.

In the fiscal year 2025, our group has two staffs, one guest professor, six researchers, four Ph.D students, and four master course students, and three undergraduate students.
