Rhamphocottus nagaakii (Cottoidea: Rhamphocottidae), a new species of grunt sculpin from the northwestern Pacific, with notes on the phylogeography of the genus Rhamphocottus と題した共著論文がIchthyological Research誌に掲載されました。北米のアリューシャン列島からカナダ・バンクーバー島に生息するgrunt sculpinと形態がよく似ている種が、以前から南三陸や関東周辺で見つかっており、クチバシカジカの名前で知られていました。しかしながら、形態はよく似ているものの、頭部の形態などが異なるというのが第一著者である宗原先生らの見解でした。寒いアラスカやカナダ、そして三陸の海での潜水採集による標本から、北米のgrunt sculpinと日本のクチバシカジカは形態的にも遺伝的にも別種であることが明らかになりました。安房田は野外採集での貢献となります。可愛らしい魚です。是非ご一読ください。
