パトラ教授は、現在、インド科学振興協会の上席教授であり、ナノ科学技術研究所の所長を歴任したインドを代表するナノ科学者である。

同氏は、二次元半導体ナノプレートレット、ペロブスカイトナノ結晶、金属ナノクラスター、量子ドットの光物性研究、

ならびにπ共役系ポリマーナノ粒子の形成機構と超高速緩和ダイナミクスの解明において、世界的に卓越した業績を挙げられている。

Professor Patra is currently a senior professor at the Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science and is a leading nanoscientist in India, having served as the director of the Institute of Nano Science and Technology.

He has achieved globally outstanding results in the study of optical properties of two-dimensional semiconductor nanoplatelets, perovskite nanocrystals, metal nanoclusters, and quantum dots, as well as in uncovering the formation mechanism and ultrafast relaxation dynamics of π-conjugated polymer nanoparticles.
