My academic career has been rooted consistently in pharmacology, while spanning three distinct disciplines: pharmaceutical science, dentistry, and veterinary medicine.

I received my undergraduate and graduate training in the Laboratory of Pharmacology, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, where I also worked as a Research Fellow of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science. I subsequently served as a Research Associate in the Department of Pharmacology, School of Dentistry. I then moved to the Graduate School of Veterinary Science, where I have served as Associate Professor, and Professor in the Laboratory of Prophylactic Pharmacology.

This unique academic path has allowed me to study pharmacology across different biological systems, disease models, and medical disciplines. Throughout my career, I have been interested in how cellular signaling and pharmacological regulation shape inflammatory responses, tissue injury, and tissue repair. Building on this background, my current research focuses on macrophage pharmacology, inflammatory resolution, cytokine signaling, and calcium-dependent mechanisms in inflammatory and fibrotic diseases.

I consider it a great privilege to have pursued pharmacology across multiple faculties and research environments. This experience continues to shape the central philosophy of our laboratory: to understand disease mechanisms through pharmacology, and to translate that understanding into new strategies for prevention and therapy.

教授紹介

私はこれまで、薬学部、歯学部、獣医学部という三つの異なる大学・学部において、一貫して薬理学を基盤とした教育・研究に携わってきました。

薬学部薬理学研究室において、学部生、大学院生、日本学術振興会特別研究員として薬理学研究の基礎を学びました。その後、歯学部薬理学講座に助手として着任し、さらに獣医学部に移って、予防薬理学教室において、助教授、准教授、教授として研究と教育に従事してきました。

薬学、歯学、獣医学という異なる生命科学・医療系分野に身を置きながら、常に「薬理学」の視点から、細胞機能、炎症、組織障害、組織修復、疾患制御の仕組みを考えてきたことは、私にとって大きな財産です。異なる学問領域を経験したことで、特定の臓器や疾患に限定されない、横断的な薬理学的発想を培うことができました。

現在は、マクロファージ、サイトカイン、Ca²⁺シグナルを軸に、炎症がどのように制御され、どのように収束し、どのように組織修復へと向かうのかを明らかにする研究に取り組んでいます。私たちの研究室では、疾患の成り立ちを薬理学的に理解し、その理解を新しい予防・治療戦略につなげることを目指しています。
