The funeral was conducted privately on January 2 and 3, 2026. The family has respectfully requested that no condolence offerings be made.

Professor Hashimoto's research focused on commutative ring theory and invariant theory. He made distinguished contributions through his research on free resolutions of determinantal ideals, the ring-theoretic properties of invariant rings, and Frobenius maps on invariant rings, among other topics. In recognition of these achievements, he was awarded the Algebra Prize of the Mathematical Society of Japan in March 2017.

Professor Hashimoto served in a number of administrative roles, including the Chair of the Department of Mathematics in the 2021 academic year, as well as on various committees. More recently, he contributed significantly as a member of the campus construction committee, where he supported preparations for the campus relocation. Although he had been experiencing health issues since the beginning of this academic year, he remained actively engaged in his research and devoted himself to supervising students until shortly before his passing.
