On September 22, 2025, three researchers from the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia visited our laboratory.

We welcomed three researchers from the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, Professor Fabio Licciardello, Professor Andrea Pulvirenti, and Postdoctoral Researcher Marcello Brugnoli, to our laboratory to discuss their research activities in the field of food technology.

On September 22, 2025, Specially Appointed Professor Shinichi Kitamura, Specially Appointed Associate Professor Hatsuho Takemitsu, and their members from the Laboratory of Food Process Initiative, welcomed three researchers from the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, Professor Fabio Licciardello, Professor Andrea Pulvirenti, and postdoctoral researcher Marcello Brugnoli.
The visit was prompted by the Italian researchers’ interest in Professor Kitamura’s published work, which encouraged them to take the opportunity to meet around their schedule for the Emilia-Romagna Week at the Expo 2025 Italy Pavilion.
During the meeting, Professor Licciardello gave the presentation, “The research activity in the food technology area of the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia (Italy),” which was followed by a discussion. The delegation also toured the R&D Center for the Plant Factory, where Director Yoshiaki Kitaya introduced the aquaponics system.
This exchange is hoped to mark the beginning of future international cooperation.
