Osaka City University Faculty of Science, Graduate School of Science

1949

Osaka City University was established. Faculty of Science and Engineering was established from Osaka Municipal Technical College of Miyakojima.

1950

The Agricultural Research Institute of Osaka City was transferred to establish the Faculty of Science and Engineering's Botanical Garden.

1952

The Institute for Cosmic Ray Physics, Faculty of Science and Engineering, were established.

1953

Osaka City University Graduate School of Science and Engineering was established (7 graduate school master's courses). Master's Courses of the Graduate School of Science: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geosciences.

1954

Doctoral Course was established (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry).

1955

The Institute of Organic Chemistry was established.

1957

The Faculty of Science and Engineering was abolished and replaced with a departmental system, with 11 departments (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geosciences, etc.).

1958

Doctoral Course in Biology was established.

1959

The Faculty of Science and Engineering was abolished and the Faculty of Science and the Faculty of Engineering were established.

1961

The Institute of Organic Chemistry was donated to the university and became an affiliated institute of the Faculty of Science.

1962

New Faculty of Science building completed and relocated to Sugimoto-cho.

1963

Doctoral Course in Geosciences was established.

1993

Department of Materials Science was established. Reorganized the Department of Geosciences. Abolished the Institute of Organic Chemistry, Faculty of Science.

1998

All majors in the Graduate School of Science were reorganized, and three majors were established: Mathematics & Physics, Molecular Materials Science, and Biology & Geosciences.

2003

Abolished the Institute for Cosmic Ray Physics attached to the Faculty of Science and integrated it into the Department of Physics.
Osaka City University Advanced Mathematical Institute (OCAMI) was established in the Graduate School of Science.

2006

Osaka City University was incorporated as the University Public Corporation Osaka City University.

2009

The Department of Materials Science stopped accepting applications. Science elective course was established.

2010

The admission capacity of the Master's Course was changed.

2018

OCAMI became an affiliated research institute of Osaka City University.
Nambu Yoichiro Institute of Theoretical and Experimental Physics (NITEP) was established as a university affiliated research institute.

2019

University Public Corporation Osaka City University and University Public Corporation Osaka Prefecture University merged to establish University Public Corporation Osaka.
OCAMI has been authorized as a MEXT Joint Usage/Research Center on Mathematics and Theoretical Physics.

2005

The School of Science and Graduate School of Science were newly established with the integration and incorporation of three universities: Osaka Prefecture University, Osaka Women's University, and Osaka Prefectural College of Health Science.

2012

The Faculty of Science was reorganized into the College of Environment and Advanced Sciences. On the other hand, the Graduate School of Science has been maintained as it has been up to the present.

2018

The School of Science was reorganized with the establishment of the Department of Mathematical Sciences.
