INS delegation from El Salvador visits OMU

On February 6, 2026, Director Xochitl Sandoval and Dr. Katherine Sofia Candray Medina from the Instituto Nacional de Salud (INS) of El Salvador, visited the Graduate School of Medicine on Abeno Campus. Dr. Candray Medina earned her PhD in the Yasutoshi Kido Laboratory at OMU and is currently a researcher at INS.

The delegation met with Professor Kido and Associate Professor Yu Nakagama, research leads in Parasitology and Chagas disease, as well as Vice Presidents Fuminori Tokunaga and Masahide Takahashi, and Advisor to the President, Naoko Ohtani.

During the meeting, Associate Professor Nakagama presented the achievements and ongoing initiatives of OMU’s Chagas disease research, followed by a discussion on potential avenues for future international collaboration. The INS delegation expressed high regard for OMU’s research environment and emphasized the importance of global networks in addressing infectious diseases, showing strong interest in pursuing further joint initiatives.

This visit served as a valuable opportunity to explore future possibilities for collaboration. OMU will continue to strengthen international partnerships and advance research on infectious diseases.
