OMU’s 2026 Spring Entrance Ceremony

The 2026 Spring Entrance Ceremony was held at Osaka-Jo Hall on April 6, 2026. We proudly welcomed 4,578 new students to our university community with 2,979 undergraduates and 1,599 graduate students.

The ceremony began with an enrollment declaration by President Hiroyuki Sakuragi, followed by acceptance pledges from student representatives Takanori Yagishita of the School of Business and Tetsuyoshi Soh of the Graduate School of Veterinary Science.

President Sakuragi then offered words of encouragement that stated, “I hope that through your time at Osaka Metropolitan University, you will learn to formulate your own questions, deepen your expertise, respect diverse values, and cultivate the ability to continue learning independently. Building on the university’s long history and the strengths of a comprehensive university, I sincerely hope that you develop a broad perspective and practical skills, and to grow into individuals who will contribute to society and the future as the next generation of leaders.”

The Osaka Prefecture Governor, Hirofumi Yoshimura, also gave a speech to inspire the students on their new path.

The event concluded with performances by the university choirs, the OMU Symphony Orchestra, and the cheerleading squad.

Congratulations to all the new students!
