On June 18, 2026, Osaka Metropolitan University (OMU) welcomed a delegation, led by President Tran Le Quan, from the University of Science, Viet Nam National University Ho Chi Minh City (HCMUS) to Morinomiya Campus.

The HCMUS delegation included Associate Professor Vo Hong Hai, Deputy Head of the Office of External Relations, Associate Professor Tran Van Man, Head of the Office of Science and Technology, Associate Professor To Thi Hien, Head of the Department of Environmental Engineering, and Ms. Nguyen Thi Binh Yen, Coordinator of the Office of External Relations.

From OMU, Vice President Takahashi Masahide, along with Professor Takenaka Norimichi from the Graduate School of Sustainable System Sciences, Associate Professor Le Thi Thanh Thuy, and Specially Appointed Lecturer Hoang Hai from the Graduate School of Medicine also attended the meeting.

The visit began with a greeting by Vice President Takahashi, followed by remarks from President Tran. Both universities also introduced their respective institutions and academic activities.

Associate Professor To, who earned her doctoral degree from the former Osaka Prefecture University in 2007 under the supervision of Professor Takenaka, has played a key role in promoting long-standing academic exchange between the two institutions. She and Professor Takenaka also outlined the history of the collaboration between HCMUS and OMU’s Graduate School of Sustainable System Sciences.

Following the meeting, a luncheon was held, where Assoc. Prof. Le led discussions on future collaboration.

Building on the cooperative relationship established to date, OMU will continue to strengthen its partnership with HCMUS across a wide range of fields in education and research, and aims to further expand academic exchange in the future.
