OMU welcomes academic and industry delegation from San Luis Potosí, Mexico
On July 22, 2026, Osaka Metropolitan University welcomed a delegation from San Luis Potosí State, Mexico, led by Néstor Eduardo Garza Álvarez, Rector of the Polytechnic University of San Luis Potosí. The delegation also included President Alberto Rosales Reyna and Director General Luis Alberto González Olvera from Cluster Automotriz SLP. Director Rodolfo González and Marketing & PR staff member Fumitaka Tsuchiya from the San Luis Potosí State Japan Office, and Satoshi Sakano, Secretary-General of the Japan Auto Parts Industries Association (JAPIA) West Branch were also in attendance. The visit was made possible through the longstanding connections cultivated by Shigeyuki Minami, Specially Appointed Professor in the Graduate School of Engineering at OMU.
The delegation first met with Masahide Takahashi, Vice President for International Affairs, on Morinomiya Campus to discuss perspectives on Japan-Mexico relations and opportunities for future collaboration.

Next, the delegation visited Nakamozu Campus, where they met with Satoshi Watano, Dean of the Graduate School of Engineering. They toured the All-Solid-State Batteries Research Center, the Research and Development Center for Plant Factories (PFC), and the Agricultural XR Robotics Laboratory. The visit concluded with active discussions and exchanges of ideas.
Through this visit, OMU strengthened its relationships with academic and industry partners in San Luis Potosí and looks forward to further developing collaboration in the future.
