Poster session by JSPS and other young foreign researchers

On January 26, 2023, a poster session was held at the Media Center on Sugimoto Campus, for young foreign researchers, including JSPS Postdoctoral Fellows, who are conducting research at Osaka Metropolitan University. Researchers from France, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, and the Philippines, presented posters, covering their research in a variety of fields, making for a lively session. Posters focused on the presenter’s research field, using easy to understand language, even for non-specialists, and enthusiastically explained the content of their work to interested students and faculty members. The students passing through the Media Center spent their time productively, listening to approachable presentations and repeatedly asking questions, using the opportunity to practice engaging with foreign researchers and speaking in English.

Dr. Laura Barbieri, an Italian researcher in the Graduate School of Medicine, Department of Parasitology, who proposed the poster session, said, “I was happy to meet so many students and researchers who were interested in our research. Even though we are all in different research fields, we can grow a lot here in Japan by cooperating and interacting with each other. I hope to continue such exchange opportunities.”

In his opening remarks, Vice President of International Affairs Makoto Tsubota thanked the young researchers for taking time out of their busy schedules to provide OMU students with this opportunity and took the time to visit each poster to listen to each presenter.

* The event was co-hosted by the International Relations Division and the Support Office for Women Researchers.
