On Thursday, August 10, 2023, Professor Peter Kelly, Head of the Surface Engineering Group and Director of the Advanced Materials and Surface Engineering Research Centre, along with Dr. Justyna Kulczyk-Malecka, Senior Lecturer from the Manchester Fuel Cell Innovation Centre, Surface Engineering at Manchester Metropolitan University, visited the Research Center for Artificial Photosynthesis (ReCAP) at OMU.

The event began with welcoming remarks from Vice President Sakuragi and Professor Amao, Director of ReCAP. Also in attendance were Professor Yamada, and Dr. Takashi Nakazono, specially appointed lecturer.

Professor Kelly and Dr. Kulczyk-Malecka gave insightful presentations on the latest research being conducted at the Advanced Materials and Surface Engineering Research Centre, and its future prospects. The research centre focuses on the production and characterization of novel materials and the modification of surfaces for a wide range of applications. “We generate insights into materials and processes, and use that knowledge to develop new components and devices with novel or enhanced properties, supporting economic and social development across the UK and internationally,” explained Professor Kelly.

This was followed by a lively Q&A session between OMU faculty members, Professor Kelly, and Dr. Kulczyk-Malecka.
