Graduate School of Veterinary Science alumnus visits OMU from Sri Lanka

On September 1, 2023, Dr. Daluthgamage Patsy Himali Wijesekera from University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka, paid a courtesy visit to Vice President Toshiyuki Matsui.

Dr. Himali graduated from Osaka Prefecture University, Veterinary Science, Graduate School of Life and Environmental Sciences earning her Ph.D. degree in 2017. Since her graduation she has been working on collaborative research with her supervisor, Professor Kikuya Sugiura of the Graduate School of Veterinary Science while working at the University of Peradeniya as a senior lecturer.

Dr. Himali came to Japan as a recipient of the JASSO 2023 Follow-up Research Fellowship. In addition to conducting joint research with the Osaka International Cancer Institute, Department of Cancer Drug Discovery and Development, she has also been discussing her research with OMU graduate and undergraduate students and providing them with guidance on their research.

During her visit, Dr. Himali had an active discussion with Vice President Matsui about future collaboration opportunities between OMU and the University of Peradeniya in the fields of research and education.
