Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai Japan Joint Pavilion Iida Group x Osaka Metropolitan Univ. Presentation of the External Appearance Design of the Pavilion

Iida Group Holdings Company Ltd. (Head Office: Musashino-shi, Tokyo; President and Representative Director: Masashi Kanei) announces that it made a presentation about the external appearance design of the Pavilion at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan, which it would exhibit in collaboration with Osaka Metropolitan University (Abeno-ku, Osaka; Chairperson of the University Public Corporation of Osaka: Shinichi Fukushima).

Pursuing “Wellness of Human, Society, and Planet Earth”, Iida Group Holdings and Osaka Metropolitan University (hereinafter referred to as "we") have continued a joint research for realization of “futuristic housing” or “community development”, which could contribute to creation of sustainable housing, living and communities. "Designing Future Society for Our Lives", the theme of Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan, is the very model of future communities we should realize. We promise that we will exhibit a pavilion where every visitor feels really happy.

Concept of the external appearance design

“Sustainable Mobius”

We expressed our devotion to and our hope for “Life” as the shape of “Mobius”. Our devotion to and hope for “Life” mean spinning “Life”, interweaving “Life”, raising “Life, and dreaming of “Life”. The Pavilion, the exterior of which is designed based on Nishijin-ori, not only expresses fusion of tradition and future. It especially symbolizes sustainability, which means continuing, recycling, inheriting and advancing. In addition, it goes without saying that “Sustainable Mobius” is the unprecedented scale building in Nishijin-ori design.

Details of the Pavilion

Comment from the architect of the Pavilion

A large oval-shaped city of a diorama model with the major axis of 24 m and the minor axis of 15 m, in and around which all the necessary exhibition items are arranged, that is to say, one-room, three-dimensional type exhibition plan needed me to realize the very comprehensive pavilion. The complex, three-dimensional shape supported by curved structure materials such as main arch, sub arch, ring girder and the like, which I thought would be necessary to create the comprehensive pavilion, led to “Mobius” as the very symbol.
