Forging strategic ties: OMU and NTU sign MOU to advance international collaboration

OMU and Singapore’s Nanyang Technological University (NTU) held a formal signing ceremony for a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on June 13, 2025. This agreement was established under the framework of the Program for Forming Japan’s Peak Research Universities (J-PEAKS) following a year of dialogue aimed at fostering new opportunities for global academic collaboration.

Prior to the ceremony, the delegation toured Nakamozu Campus with Specially Appointed Vice President Norifumi Fujimura and Special Advisor to the President Eiji Yuba. The tour featured a visit to the Smart Energy Building, where Professor Fujimura introduced the facility’s advanced features. Professor Takuya Iida from the Graduate School of Science followed with a presentation on the research activities of the LAC-SYS Research Institute to highlight OMU’s innovative initiatives in industry-government-academia collaboration.

After the campus tour, the delegation and OMU representatives attended a meeting over lunch to discuss potential joint research projects, key research insights, and identify opportunities for future collaboration.

OMU remains dedicated to deepening its partnership with NTU and promoting meaningful international academic exchange through tangible, progressive initiatives.

In conjunction with this visit, OMU researchers also participated in the event, “Building a Resilient Future”, held at the Osaka-Kansai EXPO Singapore Pavilion. The participants were Vice President Toshiyuki Matsui, Professor Norimichi Takenaka from the Graduate School of Sustainable System Sciences, Associate Professor Hiroyuki Maezawa from the Graduate School of Science, and Professor Akio Sohma from the Graduate School of Engineering.
