Vice President Takahashi attends Japan-Africa University Exchange Meeting 2025

On August 19, Vice President Masahide Takahashi joined the Japan-Africa University Exchange Meeting 2025 at the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) in Tokyo. This meeting was a partner project of the 9th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9), a Japan-led international forum that promotes African development through partnerships between African countries and global stakeholders.

Presidents and representatives from 21 universities in Japan and 11 universities from 10 African countries gathered to establish a strong foundation for academic collaboration and exchange between universities in both regions. OMU has been actively collaborating with African countries, particularly in the field of infectious disease research. As such, these efforts are what led to the invitation to participate in this groundbreaking event.

During the roundtable discussion, Vice President Takahashi contributed to an in-depth discussion focused on two key themes: people-to-people exchange initiatives between Africa and Japan and initiatives to progress international collaborative research. Throughout the event, valuable connections were fostered among participants through various networking opportunities.
