Professor Antonio Krüger, CEO of DFKI, visits Morinomiya Campus
On October 7, 2025, Professor Antonio Krüger, CEO of the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) visited Morinomiya Campus accompanied by Professor Koichi Kise from the Graduate School of Informatics. President Hiroyuki Sakuragi and Vice President Masahide Takahashi welcomed him.
OMU and DFKI have fostered a strong partnership for over 25 years, focusing on fundamental and applied research in artificial intelligence as well as academic exchange. In 2022, the two institutions signed a cooperation agreement, which led to the establishment of the DFKI Lab Japan on Nakamozu Campus, the first of its kind outside Germany. Further strengthening the partnership, OMU opened its Kaiserslautern Office at DFKI in December 2024, expanding the international research network.
This visit marked Professor Krüger’s first return to OMU since 2023. During the meeting, those present reflected on the achievements of past collaborations and engaged in active discussions about the future of joint research and academic exchange.
A subsequent campus tour was held, featuring visits to the SMBC Sky Lounge on the 12th floor and the observation terrace on the 13th floor, which highlighted the distinctive facilities of Morinomiya Campus.
On October 6, Professor Krüger also visited the joint exhibition pavilion of the Iida Group and OMU at the Osaka-Kansai Expo, guided by Professor Kise.
