Professor Akiyama from the Graduate School of Agriculture named among Clarivate’s Highly Cited Researchers 2025

Professor Kohki Akiyama from the Graduate School of Agriculture has been selected for the Clarivate’s 2025 list of Highly Cited Researchers for the second consecutive year.

Curated by Clarivate, this list identifies researchers who have significantly impacted their respective fields by publishing multiple papers that are within the top 1% most cited over the past decade. This year’s roster includes 7,131 researchers from 88 nations and regions, with 78 from Japan. Being among the Highly Cited Researchers places them in the elite 0.1% of the global research community.

Professor Akiyama conducts research on the understanding and application of symbiotic control substances in the system between arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi and plants.

“I am very honored to be selected as a Highly Cited Researcher again after last year’s recognition. I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the students in my laboratory who have worked diligently alongside me, as well as to my collaborators. Moving forward, I will continue to devote my efforts to advancing this field by elucidating key substances involved in mycorrhizal symbiosis, and I hope to give back to society through education and research activities at the university.”
