Osaka Asia Roundtable 2025 successfully held at OMU’s Morinomiya Campus
As part of the J-PEAKS initiative to strengthen global collaborative networks, Osaka Metropolitan University (OMU) hosted the Osaka Asia Roundtable 2025 from November 26 to 28 on its newly opened Morinomiya Campus. The event brought together experts and policymakers from nine Asian countries/regions and one international organization. Following an opening address by OMU President Hiroyuki Sakuragi, approximately 40 distinguished speakers shared their insights on pressing urban challenges and innovative solutions.
Throughout the sessions, speakers presented unique challenges and initiatives from their respective countries and cities, which included topics on healthcare systems, digital transformation strategies, and Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) measures. The DRR session was co-hosted with the Cabinet Office of Japan, underscoring the importance of collaboration between academia and government. These discussions provided a valuable opportunity for mutual learning and collaboration among Asian cities.
OMU will continue to create platforms for such dialogues to foster partnerships that drive practical solutions to shared challenges. Our vision is to develop a dynamic, interconnected network where cities and institutions worldwide can learn and grow together toward sustainable urban futures.
