President of Thomas Jefferson University visits Graduate School of Medicine

April 19, 2023, President Mark Tykocinski of Thomas Jefferson University – USA, visited the OMU Graduate School of Medicine.

Over the years, the Thomas Jefferson University School of Medicine and the OMU Graduate School of Medicine have cooperated in various ways, and through the academic exchange agreement, both universities have dispatched and accepted trainees.

The first session of the day began with a welcome address by Professor Norifumi Kawada, Dean of the Graduate School of Medicine, and was moderated by Professor Hisashi Motomura, Chair of the International Affairs Committee of the Graduate School of Medicine. This was followed by a brief introduction on Thomas Jefferson University by President Tykocinski. Thereafter, Professor Charles A. Pohl presented on curriculum reform, and Professor Takami Sato explained how OMU and Thomas Jefferson University came together thanks to the efforts of the Noguchi Medical Research Institute.

During the meeting, there was a lively discourse regarding academic exchanges between the two universities, which further reaffirmed hopes of more cooperation in the future.

The second session of the day was moderated by Professor Kenji Mizuseki, with presentations on Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) case studies by Associate Professor Le Thi Thanh Thuy, Associate Professor Daiju Ueda, Professor Naoko Ohtani, Professor Takeaki Ishizawa, and Professor Kenji Mizuseki, who all provided insight into their latest research respectively.

This was followed by a question and answer session which was a great conclusion to a wonderful session.
