OMU delegation visits Hanoi – meets with partner institutions

As part of ongoing efforts to strengthen international academic partnerships, Vice President Masahide Takahashi and Associate Professor Le Thi Thanh Thuy visited Hanoi, Vietnam, from January 12–13, 2026.
National Innovation Center (NIC)
On January 12, Associate Professor Thuy from the Graduate School of Medicine visited the National Innovation Center (NIC) and held discussions with Deputy Director Do Tien Thinh and other representatives. Deputy Director Do previously participated as a speaker in the Digital Transformation session at the Asia Roundtable hosted by OMU last November.
During the meeting, Associate Professor Thuy introduced recent initiatives from the OMU Innovation Academy, and the participants engaged in active discussions on further possibilities for collaboration.

Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST)
On January 13, Vice President Takahashi and Associate Professor Thuy visited the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST). VAST and OMU, formerly as Osaka Prefecture University, signed an MOU in 2006, and since have deepened collaboration, particularly in food process engineering and environmental technology.
Vice President Takahashi met and extended his congratulations to Vice President Tran Hong Thai for the 50th anniversary of VAST’s establishment. Both sides exchanged views on further strengthening future academic and research collaboration.
Following the meeting, Vice President Takahashi and Associate Professor Thuy visited two research institutes under VAST, the Institute of Materials Science (IMS) and the Institute of Chemistry (VHH), where they toured the facilities and discussed with researchers.

Later that day, the delegation met with Vice President Le Dinh Tung, Director of the Department of Science and Technology Tran Huy Thinh, and other representatives at Hanoi Medical University (HMU). OMU established its Hanoi Office at HMU, which serves as a hub for promoting academic exchange with institutions in Vietnam and beyond. During this follow-up meeting, they introduced OMU’s recent activities and initiatives, and HMU representatives shared their priority research areas and interest in pursuing international collaborative research.
OMU and its predecessor universities’ alumni, who are now researchers at HMU, also joined the discussions and the office tour, providing an opportunity to exchange updates and reconnect.
