文書解析・知識科学研究所

設置目的

我々の活動の原動力となる知識、ならびにその表現形態である文書は極めて密接な関係があるにもかかわらず、これまで知識科学（Knowledge Science）、文書解析（Document Analysis）、情報検索（Information Retrieval)、人工知能（Artificial Intelligence) などの分野で独立に研究が行われてきた。ところが、最近になって、知識管理（Knowledge Management)、Semantic Web、e-learning、Intelligent officeなど）のアプリケーション分野からの要請に伴って、知識と文書を統一的に捉え、新しい分野へと発展させる機運が高まりつつある。本研究所の設置目的は、このような新しい動きに迅速に対応し、様々な魅力あるパイロット研究を行うことにある。

研究内容の概要

本研究所の研究内容は,文書解析,知識科学の個別分野に加え、両者を融合するための研究、また、その結果を反映するための応用研究（知識管理、semantic web、e-learning、e-businessなど）である。これらを次のような枠組みによって研究していく。

• 文書解析や知識科学に関係する本学教員の学部を超えた連携
• 文書解析や知識科学をキーワードとした、政府研究機関ならびに民間企業との協力関係の構築、ならびに共同研究の企画・推進
• 学術交流協定を締結しているカイザースラウテルン工科大学やドイツ人工知能研究センター（DFKI）との研究連携の推進
• 文書解析や知識科学に関する国際会議などの学術活動の企画・支援
