Our Opinion

Purpose of the Center

The purpose of V-station's activities is below:

  • Students become more interested in social issues and have an awareness that they are the ones who solve those issues.
  • Demonstrate the potential of the university as a social resource related to civic activities, and make the university open to the community for Civics.

We are working to achieve these goals.

Perception of Volunteers

We call "any activity related to society (with some theme) engaged in by one's will through the Center" volunteer.

Even if you just attend a lecture. Even if you went to the scene and you couldn't be helpful.

In that sense, We don't think that volunteering is directly linked to "good things" or "helping people."

but someday

"can be aware of social issues"

"can take a step (even if it is small) that can change society."

In order to become such a person, we guide students in the hope that they will deepen their understanding through activities and use it as a source of future participation in society.

(Needless to say, we would like them to be able to help the scene as much as possible.)

In addition, we are conscious of telling them that when they enter the scene, it is important to act "sincerely" as much as possible.

We would like to clear up another misconception about volunteers, which people tend to have an image of.

As a part that tends to be noticed on volunteers,

  • things to do in your spare time
  • doing free of charge

are said, however, they are not unique to volunteers. If you say it, it's the same with club activities until high school.

The destination may be society or other people. That's the feature.

Some people go all out. Some people take it easy. Things you can't experience and people you can't meet just by spending time at school. If you want to spend time in such a world view, please visit V-station first.

If you think, "Let's try it!" even for a moment, you don't need anything. Please come to V-station with only that feeling. The coordinator and student staff will do their best to support you!

MAGIC Model

As a model for volunteer activities, we have devised "MAGIC model". First, one gets "Motivation" in volunteer activities. Then one enjoys the "Action" by actually participating. In the process of continuing activities and learning about various things, one nurtures "Imagination" in himself or herself. By giving shape to it, one wants to make "Communication" of one's thoughts to those around one. This leads to the next person, and the circle of volunteers expands. This cycle shows "Gradation". Taking these initials, it is "MAGIC cycle". We're doing trial and error every day so that this cycle goes well.
