The news reports daily on issues such as climate change, resource and food depletion, the widening economic disparity, and dysfunctional political systems around the world, with no end in sight for ongoing conflicts.  It is difficult to maintain the sustainability of modern society with the methods used by humans to solve problems, and it can be said that modern society is truly a “limited system.”  Furthermore, in recent years, AI has been introduced into various fields, and it is drastically changing the way people work and live. However, it is also true that there is a race to develop technologies that could even pose an existential threat to humanity, such as the use of AI to control autonomous weapons in warfare.
So, what kind of person is capable of creating a sustainable society? First, such a person must not view contemporary societal issues as isolated events but must understand the complex relationship between nature and humanity from various perspectives. They must be able to take a holistic, overarching view of how these issues are evolving as a whole. Additionally, it is essential to possess a strong ethical sense and sense of mission, with the goal of creating a society where the dignity of all people is protected, and knowledge and skills are acquired with this objective in mind.
