帰省や旅行、研究などで一時的に日本から出るときに必要となる手続きについて

許可されている在留期間内に帰省や海外旅行など、一時的に日本を出国し、再び日本に入国する場合は、出発前に必ずご自身の在留期間を確認してください。再入国前に在留期間が切れてしまうと、改めて入国目的に応じた在留資格の取得が必要になりますので、注意してください。

みなし再入国許可について

1年以内に再入国する場合、有効な旅券（パスポート）及び在留カードを持参すれば、原則として通常の再入国許可の取得が不要となります。（この制度を「みなし再入国許可」といいます。）
1年以上出国する場合は出国前に住居地を管轄する地方出入国在留管理官署で「再入国許可」を申請してください。

 

「みなし再入国許可」で出国する際の注意点

• 出国する際には、みなし再入国許可で出国することを再入国出国記録（再入国EDカード）の所定の欄に記載し、出国審査で旅券と同出国記録とともに必ず在留カードを提示してください。
• みなし再入国許可で出国した方は、出国後1年が経過する日または在留期間の満了する日のいずれかの早い日までは再入国しないと、在留資格が失われることになります。
• みなし再入国許可で出国した方は、その有効期限を海外で延長することはできません。したがって、1年を超えて出国する可能性がある場合は、あらかじめ、住居地を管轄する地方出入国在留管理官署において「再入国許可」を受けるようにしてください。

• 大学が管理する宿舎に入居している場合は、「長期不在届」を宿舎の管理人に提出してください。
• 指導教員の先生にも事前に伝えておきましょう。
• 奨学金を受給している場合、財団によっては届出が必要、または帰国日数が制限されていることがあります。必ず確認しておいてください。財団への届出が必要な場合は、事前に財団や大学に連絡するようにしましょう。

Procedures required when you temporarily leave Japan for purposes such as homecoming, travel, and research

If you plan to temporarily leave Japan during your permitted period of stay for such reasons as homecoming or traveling abroad and to re-enter Japan, be sure to check your period of stay before your departure. Caution should be exercised because if your period of stay expires before you re-enter Japan, you will have to obtain a new residence status according to your purpose of entry.

Special (minashi) Re-Entry Permit System

If you plan to re-enter Japan within one year, as a general rule, you do not have to obtain a normal re-entry permit if you have a valid passport and a Residence Card with you. (This is called the Special (minashi) Re-Entry Permit System.)
If you plan to leave Japan and stay out of the country for one year or more, you must apply for “re-entry permission” before your departure at the regional immigration office that has jurisdiction over your place of residence.

Pay attention to the following points when leaving Japan with a Special (minashi) Re-Entry Permit.

• When departing Japan, write in the designated section of your re-entry/departure record (re-entry ED card) that you are departing with a Special (minashi) Re-Entry Permit, and be sure to show your Residence Card along with your passport and the re-entry/departure record at immigration.
• If you have left Japan with a Special (minashi) Re-Entry Permit and do not re-enter Japan on or before the date when one year has elapsed after your departure or when your period of stay expires, whichever comes first, you will lose your residence status.
• Those who have left Japan with a Special (minashi) Re-Entry Permit cannot extend the validity of their permit outside Japan. Therefore, if there is a possibility that you will be away from Japan for more than one year, you should obtain “re-entry permission” in advance from the regional immigration office that has jurisdiction over your place of residence.

• If you are residing in a dormitory under the management of the university, submit a “Notification of Temporary Leave” to its superintendent.
• You should also inform your supervisor in advance.
• If you are on a scholarship, some foundations may require you to submit a notification or may limit the number of days for which you can return to your home country. Make sure to check those points. If you are required to notify a foundation, be sure to contact the foundation or the university in advance.
